2009 MCT CHAMPIONS ....Columbus Cricket Club

  • Congratulations to Columbus Cricket Club,Repeat Champions of the Midwest Cricket Tournament (2008-2009) - Well done.

  • A wonderful day for cricket and the Midwest Cricket Tournament Finals saw a very subdued performance by COBCA, and a shrewd, well coordinated, well executed plan by CCC earning them the title of 2009 Champions.

  • COBCA won the toss, batted first and was 93 all out. CCC chased down the meager total for the loss of 4 wickets. [Scorecard] [League/Playoffs Awards]

  • Despite the low keyed nature of the game, the MCT finals featured two of the best teams of the tournament in COBCA & CCC. Both teams fought hard all season to reach the finals and contest the championship. From the enthusiastic group of twenty teams that started this journey back in June, COBCA & CCC endured the arduous league stage and some testy challenges during the playoffs to represent their respective groups in the 2009 finals.

  • COBCA came up short at the end of the day, despite a show of great determination till the end. They demonstrated great resolve throughout the game, and were gracious and dignified in acknowledging the final result. They should be proud of their season. They have truly earned the title of Finalist for 2009 through hard work and sacrifice.

  • CCC, a well organized team on and off the field of play, also played hard. They applied themselves steadfastly, and were always focused on the prize, never wavering to any challenge. They demonstrated great confidence, executed their plan flawlessly and today they are Repeat Champions of the Midwest Cricket Tournament.
2009 MCT Championship Trophy: We are honored to have the 2009 MCT Trophy sponsored by the Worlds #1 rated Batsman – Shiv Chanderpaul. As you all know from Shiv’s previous visit, he is a great fan of cricket in this region, and this is his small contribution to demonstrate his commitment.
